On Sunday, August 12th, from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Cellador Ales and Woodshop Beer Co. will host a “Masumoto & Friends” food and beer celebration at the Cellador barrel room in North Hills. This event will feature a variety of delicious craft beers from us and others, plus a special spread of food prepared by the incredible folks at Sqirl in Silver Lake/Virgil Village. All beers and the special menu from Sqirl will be made featuring fresh, wonderful, organic peaches and nectarines from Masumoto Family Farm.
Tickets are $79 pre-paid per ticket, and include lunch from Sqirl plus servings of 6 different Masumoto beers specially selected for the day.
This will be an intimate event with terrific food, drink, and people—loose and informal and keeping in the spirit of discovery of previous Woodshop beer events (but with a much smaller crowd), this time with a focus on the fabulous summer fruit from Masumoto Family Farm. We are intentionally limiting capacity for this event to keep an intimate group, encouraging conversation and “casual indulgence” to go along with the exploration of flavors in the beers and food.
Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING PHOTO ID. NOBODY UNDER 21 YEARS OF AGE WILL BE ADMITTED. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Cellador Ales is a small brewery owned and run by husband and wife Kevin and Sara Osborne. Cellador specializes in production of barrel-fermented wild ales, which often showcase the bounty of fabulous produce from small farmers in California like Masumoto Family Farm.
Food will be prepared and provided by Sqirl, which is a small café specializing in breakfast/brunch fare and “New California” cuisine. We will have a ticketed meal and small bites throughout the event space, allowing attendees to enjoy their meal at their own pace. Vegetarian options are available. Food will be available starting at 12pm and conclude at 2pm.
The beverage lineup for this event will include at least 6 different Masumoto stonefruit beers, specifically selected with an aim to show the breadth of peach expressions that are possible with this fruit and beer. So there will be some experimental projects, and small batches, and works-in-progress… and things that have never been served before, or ever again. Beers will be from Cellador Ales as well as other “Masumoto friends,” and all are made using peaches and/or nectarines from Masumoto Family Farm. It’s more fun if we keep the exact beer lineup a secret until the event itself, but the brewers who have used this fruit in recent years (some of whom will be featured at the event) are of the highest caliber, and include The Lost Abbey, Craftsman Brewing, Homage Brewing, Highland Park Brewery, Sante Adairius Rustic Ales, Modern Times, Monkish Brewing, De Garde Brewing, The Rare Barrel, Resident Brewing, Belching Beaver Brewery, Mikkeller SD, Pure Project, and Superstition Meadery, among others.
Last but not least… to be perfectly clear, we are still awaiting confirmation from Mas and Marcy Masumoto as to whether or not they will be able to attend in-person. They would love to attend, but will have to reserve a final decision based on the conclusion of their peach and nectarine harvest season for 2018, which is expected to end right around August 10th or 11th. The event date was selected so that we can utilize some of this wonderful, fresh fruit in the food prepared for our event, but with that comes a risk that the Masumotos themselves may not be able to participate. Crossing fingers….
